Clinic Description

The Maternal Addiction Treatment, Education, and Research (MATER) and Family Center is part of the Jefferson Health Network and offers rehab services for opioid recovery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The center provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT), dual diagnosis care, intensive outpatient (IOP), general outpatient (OP), and aftercare for pregnant and postpartum women. Specialized programs are available for justice-involved persons, underserved communities, and homeless/indigent persons.

At MATER and Family Center, clients receive a customized evaluation and are assigned to a case management team. FDA-approved prescriptions, including methadone and buprenorphine, are used to reduce cravings and ease withdrawal symptoms. Clients also participate in counseling and other pharmacological research studies to prevent relapse.

In addition to medication management, clients receive therapy ranging from 1-4 hours per week in general outpatient to 10 hours per week in intensive outpatient programs. Additional services include a 12-week mindfulness-based parenting course, emotional wellness training, parenting classes, and educational workshops. Nutritional guidelines and transportation are included. Clients may be referred to the My Sister’s Place facility for inpatient care, or to outside treatment centers and substance abuse programs.

MATER and Family Center is accredited by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP).

All services are covered by Medical Assistance plans. Specialized referrals and care may accrue a fee and may be eligible for coverage under insurance providers, such as Aetna, Beacon, BlueCross/BlueShield, Cigna, Humana, Magellan Health, Optum, United Healthcare, and Wellpoint. Please check your insurance provider for out of network benefits.
