At Richmond VA Medical Center, clients are assessed and assigned to an individual treatment program. Licensed clinicians may administer FDA-approved prescriptions, which may include methadone, buprenorphine, naloxone, and disulfiram, to reduce cravings and ease withdrawal symptoms. Clients are supervised during dosing and throughout their treatment to prevent relapse.
In addition to medication management, clients receive dual diagnosis care to address co-occurring mental and behavioral health disorders. Services may include individual and group counseling, holistic therapies, outdoor recreation, and organized sports. Acute cases may be eligible for inpatient rehabilitation at the center or in outside facilities. Referrals may be provided for specialized substance abuse programs.
