Clinic Description
The Brooklyn Campus of the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System offers outpatient behavioral health services to military members, veterans, and their families in Brooklyn, New York. The clinic can refer patients to addiction treatment services such as medical detox, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and nicotine replacement medication.
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) allows patients to use FDA-approved medication to manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings. During the time these medications are used, the patient also receives evidence-based treatment so they can learn to create a substance-free life without the help of medication.
Addiction treatment services at the VA can be provided on an inpatient or outpatient basis, and services include individual and group therapy, addiction education, life skills training, and relapse prevention. The VA can offer dual-diagnosis care for those struggling with PTSD or depression. When treatment ends, the VA offers assistance with ongoing recovery, such as connections to recovery groups, housing options, and employment support.
The VA accepts VA insurance for service-connected care. They also accept other insurance plans for non-service-connected care, such as Humana, Ambetter, Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Aetna. Because insurance plans vary, be sure to verify coverage information and out of network benefits with your insurer.
