Clinic Description
The Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (SFGH)’s Opiate Treatment Outpatient Program (OTOP) offers alcohol and drug rehab services, including opioid recovery in San Francisco, California. The center provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT), dual diagnosis care, outpatient programs (OP), and aftercare services for young adults, adults, underserved communities, pregnant and postpartum women, and veterans.
At OTOP, clients are evaluated and assigned to a case management team. FDA-approved prescriptions, such as methadone and buprenorphine, are administered to relieve withdrawal pains and reduce cravings. Periodic drug testing and screenings are provided to prevent relapse. SFGH offers a mobile methadone van in addition to OTOP services.
Besides medication management, clients participate in counseling to address co-occurring mental and behavioral health disorders. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychotherapy approaches, such as motivational interviewing, are available. OTOP also coordinates the client’s program with other SFGH facilities and outside treatment centers to enhance rehabilitation.
Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission.
OTOP accepts clients who are eligible for San Francisco’s public insurance programs, such as San Francisco Medi-Cal, Healthy San Francisco, Healthy Workers, and veterans. Self-pay and private insurance are not accepted, but providers, such as Aetna, BlueCross/BlueShield, Cigna, Kaiser Permanente, and Optum may provide limited coverage and out-of-network benefits.
